Introduction of Illustrious Panel of Judges

Introduction of the Competitors and Sponsors:

Competitors must introduce themselves by their self-chosen "Beer-centric Stage Name".

The Home Bar Advantage - Competitors must announce their Sponsor and have 15 seconds to tell why they're so special.

Competitors must have a Philly Beer Phila-sophy – and be prepared to get it across in 15 seconds or less during their introduction – They can make a statement, do backflips, break dance, rap a song...whatever it takes to show they LOVE PHILLY BEER!

Rounds may consist of any of the following in any order:

Trivia First Rounds – Competitors will "get plastered" with a sticker on their back for each correct answer

  • Quick and Easy Round – A or B questions or True/False questions
  • Quick Round II – Philly Beer or Wild and Crazy Q & A's
  • Beer to Brewery Match-up – Judge names a beer/Competitor names the brewery

Judges Imagination – free form questions – related to Philly beer or the love of beer diversity in Philadelphia.

Stump the Chumps - Competitors get to ask a question of whichever judge they choose – judge may consult one other judge. Question will be evaluated for accuracy and whether it is actually a good question by the other judges.

Trivia Level II - Judges may ask trivia questions, have competitors act out a situation, sing a jingle, etc. The sky's the limit! Open forum for judges!

This blue section is for SEMI-FINALS only:

Name the Ale or Lager: Competitors may be presented with 2 beers, (Beer A and Beer B). One is an ale and one is a lager. They must specify which is the ale and which is the lager.

This red section is for FINALS only: (Note – this is only an example – only one will be used from Red Section 1)

Red Section 1

Philly Beer for "MAYOR of PHILADELPHIA" – Which Philly Beer would you nominate for "MAYOR of PHILADELPHIA". What deserving character does it have? You may be as dramatic or funny as you like.

Describe your favorite Philly Beer Offspring – What 2 Philly Beers would make the perfect offspring? How would it happen? What makes this offspring so one-of-a-kind? You may be as dramatic or funny as you like.

Describe Your Date with a Philly Beer - What Philly Beer would you choose, what would you do, how would your date turn out, would you do it again? You may be as dramatic or funny as you like.

Propose to a Philly Beer - Contestants may be asked to bring their most loved Philly Beer to the competition, propose, and express their love. They may be as dramatic or funny as they like.

Describe Your Honeymoon with a Philly Beer - What Philly Beer would you honeymoon with, what would you do, how would your honeymoon turn out? What was your most memorable moment? You may be as dramatic or funny as you like.

Name your Philly Beer Baby - You and your Philly Beer Spouse just had a baby. What style of beer is your baby, what characteristics or flaws did baby get from your spouse and what will you name it because of that?

Red Section 2

NAME THAT BEER Philly Beer Profiling - Contestants are sequestered to taste 3 beers. They will be told what breweries supplied the beer. They must give a "one line dramatic summary" of their overall impression. They will then attempt to name the style, what brewery each comes from, and – if possible –NAME THAT BEER.

Judges recess to choose winner. Decision of the judges is final.

Awarding of $1,000 in prizes to Philly Beer Geek Grand Champion.
